Snakes! Scorpions! and JESUS!!!

Hello everyone! It has been a while since i have been in communication with you. The most important thing to remember is that I am writing a blog now!!! So get ready for this one it is going to be EPIC

So last week I had a meeting about our trip to Israel. Well we learned a lot of new information, things like there is NO Verizon service in Israel, whoda thunk it. There apparently is a three prong outlet converter for Israel at Wal-Mart. I have learned that we can not travel solo, we have to stay in groups of at least two and it is forbidden to actually leave the country of Israel.

Now i know the title may sound a little strange to most of you but let me explain. So i was sitting in the meeting and it comes down to Q&A time. The first thing i ask is about snakes. Now I absolutely hate snakes they are the most nasty slimiest things in this word. I can barely stand to look at them. The first thing i did when i signed up for this trip was look up the number of snakes and what kind of snakes there were in Israel (This was a terrible idea, it just made me more paranoid, i don't recommend this strategy). So i am sitting there waiting for my reply and they say in the time that they had lived there (five years) they never saw one single snake. This was a very pleasant surprise to me. But in turn there was another deadly little animal just waiting in the wings and that was the Scorpion. Now i don't know about you but just the thought of being stung by a Scorpion does not sit well with me. On my google search you can find various searches for scorpion repellent and the like.

So what have we learned for this meeting, I need to bring a converter for my computer and various electronic plug-ins, there are things that can kill me everywhere, and to throw int into the mix is JESUS! That is my driving force through out this whole thing. After all is said and done through all the meetings I have just come to accept that there are going to be dangers and issues that we have to deal with, things such as an exit interview from the Israeli government that i am convinced i might be so nervous to answer any questions i might remain in Israel in a jail, but I know that no matter what happens Jesus will always be there for me and that is the only thing that matters, whether it is snakes, scorpions, no verizon coverage, Israeli government, Jesus will be the one that will overcome! He is the reason for this trip, the first day we get there we take an Old Testament Jerusalem walk, and then a New Testament Jerusalem walk. I will be walking in the footsteps of Jesus and that means more to me than anything. To know that my savior who loves everlasting, is always forgiving, is going to be right beside me the whole time to protect and guide me reassures me that I can do anything through Him. This is an experience i will never have again and i can not wait to walk in His footsteps!

Sinless Jesus

So since i have this blog, and i wont really be using it until Israel i have decided to write down my thoughts, how bad could that be huh? You can decide for yourself...

So i am writing a paper on the Sinless life of Jesus. I have been studying this paper for the last couple of weeks and have now started to write. Let me tell you, it is not fun to sit and look at 9 pages of hard word and know that i am only one-third the way done. But God is good and it is actually a fun paper to write!

Anyways...lets get to it.

Jesus, fully man/fully divine. I believe that Jesus is both fully man and fully divine. I believe that God the Father sent His Son to earth to come as the Son of Man and save us all from our sins. Jesus is the savior of our souls and we need to acknowledge the sinless nature of His life. I know, I asked the same question, why does it matter? Well it matters because if Jesus was not a sinless man then He couldn't of been the savior for us all. The world needed a perfect spotless sacrifice and Jesus, freely and obediently came to earth to be tempted and tried and He rose above all obstacles in His way. Jesus defeated the devil in the wilderness from three different temptations. Jesus was tempted all the time by the Jewish leaders and by the people to say the wrong thing, to hate them. Jesus never gave in to sin, He never gave into the worldly temptations. He was the perfect man!

Jesus is the example for all of humans to live by. Not just the Christians. Jesus showed us the way by being close to God. He was so close to God that He was able to refuse the temptations of this world. How cool would it be if we got to that point when we know the Father like the Father knows us. Well it will happen one day! In Heaven. As humans we may never become perfect, but we can try and live like Jesus! We can try and get to the place of that God-conscious feeling and lifestyle.

That is what i got for you in this blog. If you have any questions please ask. I don't have anything remotely close to the right answers but i have found that significant amount of time studying and researching gives you a greater knowledge of the topic you are trying to understand. I have also found that God will provide answers to you when you are ready. God will provide!!!

God Bless, and have a Great day/night/morning, whatever it is when you read this!!!

Israel Bound!

As most of you know i will be traveling to Israel this coming January through my college Bethel University. I will be gone for three weeks beginning January 2nd and returning the 23rd. I wanted to start a blog so that you would be able to follow along with me as i travel through Israel taking the steps that Jesus took!

Since I am not leaving until January i suppose that some of you are wondering why I have started this blog so early? Well it is because i have already begun preparations for my trip and i wanted to get used to writing a blog so that i know what to do when i get over there. It will also be used for me to update you on any new that i get about the situation over in Israel. As of right now I am going and it looks like everything is in place but that could all change in one day as the Middle East is not a settling place to be.

The main reason i have started this blog so early, is because I want your prayers to be with us on our trip! I know God works in ways that are unbelievable and He has shown me that through prayer anything can be done! My prayer list begins with the trip and that whole situation. I ask that you pray for safe travels and for us to be able to even go on the trip. I ask that you pray for our guides and the other students who are going with me (there are a total of 27 students going so far and that list could grow). I also ask that you pray for me too! I am nervous to say the least and I have never been away for 21 days with people i don't really know.

Again I thank you for reading this and for your prayers I will be posting a blog somewhat frequently before my trip and during my trip my goal is to do everyday but if that is not an option then every other day. I want you to be with me on the trip without having you right there with me.

If you are reading this blog it means that you are a special part of my life. I thank God for all of you because without you i wouldn't be where I am today. You all have shaped me in a different way.

Okay, i must sign off and go to class. But there will be another one soonish so stay tuned.

Stay classy blog readers!
